There are people who are absolutely intrigued and follow every word about the bizarre idea of having a specific personality type and then there are some who believe them to be utter nonsense. But still it is always interesting to see which personality type we belong to or supposedly fall in, so that perhaps we can gain a little more knowledge about the mysterious self we are.<\/p>\n

There is a famous personality test which forms the basis of several other popular modified versions of the same, called Briggs Myers\u2019 and Carl Jung\u2019s test. It is based on sixteen varying personality tests defining people into separate groups using alphabetical combinations of the traits that are symbolized by the same. There are many sceptics who suggest these tests are nothing but pseudo science. But it is still interesting to think that our personalities come wrapped in a box, predetermining our success in work and relationships!<\/p>\n

Effective leaders are people who naturally want to help. They strive to coach and nurture their employees. And that is why top managers who have made it to pinnacle of corporate success are genuinely interested in their employees\u2019 welfare and exhibit high levels of awareness and empathy. They also know the strengths and weaknesses of their employees. And by showing this genuine interest they up their chances of earning respect from their subordinates. They assign their employees with tasks according to their natural strengths and interests thus, being assured that they can complete them properly.

A successful superior manager must have an ingrained knack for being fair. If they play favourites, then it will be difficult to create a unified and highly productive workplace. As the captain of the ship they must have a firm and honest approach towards decision-making. This way their employees find their actions and reactions predictable for a certain scenario and can make up for their own mistakes and shortcomings. Also this helps to prevent resentment, anger and frustration amongst employees. A manager must balance the company\u2019s need for productivity and results with their workers\u2019 passions and interests to keep things working.<\/p>\n

Good managers are positive:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gone are the days of hard edged and aggressive style of leadership, which were a tradition during the mid-20th<\/sup> century. In today\u2019s times a positive attitude and energy are must haves for effective management. Nowadays a good manager finds a way to encourage good performance without being overly critical or simply demeaning to their employees. A positive attitude helps to lead their employees during rough times as well. Encouragement, communication, and accessibility are a few common characters found in successful managers.<\/p>\n

\"3\"<\/a>They are accountable:<\/strong><\/p>\n

An accountable manager is more likely to pass on credit for good performance or success to their employees than throwing them under the bus when it comes to failures of the company or the team. They are often the ones who take the blame for the company\u2019s or departmental team\u2019s failures. By modelling accountability and responsibility they increase the likelihood of their employees following suit and accepting their roles in the company and taking responsibility for their work group\u2019s shortcomings.
